2011 USATF National Club Track & Field Championships

USATF announced this morning that the 2011 USATF National Club Track & Field Championships will return to New York City's Ichan Stadium.
This will mark the fourth time the championships have been held in New York since 2005.  The meet will be hosted by the Central Park Track Club New Balance, who captured the 2009 combined team title the last time the event was held at Icahn Stadium.
"We are extremely pleased that the Club Championships are returning to one of America's premier track & field venues, in an area that is a hotbed for our sport and the USATF club program," said USATF Director of Grass Roots Programs Andy Martin. "The 2005, 2007, and 2009 Club Championships held at Icahn Stadium were very successful, as participation grew considerably. We look forward to continued growth in 2011 and an exciting event."
At the 2010 championships in San Francisco, Calf., the Central Park Track Club New Balance (Metropolitan) captured the men's team title and the Norfolk Real Deal TC (Virginia) claimed the women's title.  Both clubs will look to defend their titles this July in New York.
The Club Track & Field Championships is an event that supports USATF's goal to enhance and expand opportunities for open level, club-based team competition.
For more information on the 2011 championships visit www.usatf.org/events/2011/USATFClubTFChampionships.

A Brief Chat With Kara Goucher and Alberto Salazar

A very detailed chat with  Kara Goucher and Alberto Salazar from Runner's World online.
Kara @ Chicago RnR 1/2 Marathon in 2009

Could you talk about your recent race in Arizona, and how you're feeling about it?
Kara Goucher: I wasn't really ready to run super fast. To be quite honest, I had probably the most stressful week of my life leading up to it. So I wasn't sure if I was going to make it there, to be honest. I did get there, and my son is fine, and everyone's doing great. But I was very, very fatigued going in. So it really just became just a dress rehearsal of things to come and sort of run through all my preparations and to practice getting back into racing since it's been so long…I got a lot out of it. I didn't feel good necessarily in the race. I didn't feel horrible either. I just felt like I had what I had that day, but I got a lot from the race. I think it's going to carry my fitness along, but more importantly it really helped me prepare and remember what it's like to race, and how to travel with Colt and all those sorts of things.

How much was he (Colt) on your mind while you were racing?
KG: He was on my mind. I remember at about the six-mile mark,...read more here

Hood to Coast Movie

http://www.hoodtocoastmovie.com

After viewing tonight's premier of the HTC movie I can confidently say this is a must see movie for any HTCer past, present, or future.

It was an honor to watch the premier with an audience filled of like minded runners. Hood to Coast runners are a special breed and this movie captures the special significance which Hood to Coast plays in the running career of any person, avid runner or absolute rookie.

This is a great story of the epic beast which is Hood to Coast and worth the price of a ticket to see it in the theater.

After breakout campaign, Solinsky now a double threat

A memorable debut - American Chris Solinsky clocks 26:59.60 Area record in Palo Alto (Don Gosney)
Until very late in the season, Chris Solinsky led the 2010 performance list at 10,000m. This was a striking fact for several reasons, including that Solinsky is American - no American has led the world lists for the longest standard track event since the 1980s - and that so far he has run the distance only once on the track -- and is not necessarily in a hurry to do it again.

In fact, Solinsky's 2010 season established him as the fastest 10,000m runner ever born outside Africa, the first sub-27:00 runner not born in Africa, and with his 12:55.53 5000m in Stockholm in August, the second-fastest non-African ever at that distance...full article from iaaf.org
